We will be starting a research project for the history portion of humanities. You must use your time wisely, as we are quickly running out of time for this term. This will be a partner project (12 groups of 2 and one group of 3). As we learned from out wetland dioramas, it is essential to use a checklist to ensure you have ALL REQUIREMENTS, and a graphic organizer to keep your information organized. I will be grading you on your research skills, all parts of your written texts (which includes the ability to put this information in your own words, writing conventions such as punctuation, capitalization and spelling, sentence structure), organization, your ability to show information in a variety of different media, and speaking skills when you are presenting this project in our class gallery walk . Your ability to work harmoniously in a group will also come into play. This is an extensive project with many outcomes that I expect you will take seriously and not waste time in class doing. You will not be given extensions or excuses UNLESS it is family related and I will require a note from home. If you do miss class time while we are working on this, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE WORKING ON IT AT HOME AND COMPLETE ALL PARTS.
Here are some websites that may help you in your search. Remember to WRITE DOWN ALL WEBSITES USED (including these if you use them)

Before we start a research project based on the regions, we are pausing to focus on our writing skills, which will inevitably help us with all further research and written projects in all subject areas. We started with some Halloween poems, and a writing check-in in the form of a picture prompt where we wrote a story based on this picture. We will continue to learn about different types of poetry, homophones, figurative language, and continue building on our skills of organization, sentence structure and conventions in our everyday writing.
