The science quizzes were given back today to make corrections to their quiz. I will bump them up one number grade once they've made their corrections. Once I've adjusted their grade, they can take them home.

We will have a review class on Monday (maybe Tuesday as well) and do a final check-in for Chemistry on Wednesday. You should know vocabulary such as: heterogeneous, homogeneous, saturated, hypothesis, solvent, solute, dissolve, pH, acid, base, neutral, etc. You should also know the scientific method! This will probably be in the form of a quiz given next Wednesday! If you've participated in the labs in class and will participate in the review activities on Monday and Tuesday, you will be completely fine. Our next unit that we're starting is.....ELECTRICITY!
We are starting chemistry this week. We will be starting with the scientific method and learning how to do experiments following this method. We will then learn about pH (bringing in what we've learned from the field trips) and then
Here are the maps for the field trips on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We will be meeting at the Circle K, Husky and Vivo buildings (if you are coming in late to volunteer) and those buildings to use the washrooms if necessary. I've attached a microsoft word document with the maps of each location for the field trips. Note*: We will be spending the ENTIRE day outside, so it is important to bring lots of water, sunblock (if necessary) and appropriate clothing and footwear, as we will not be making trips back to the school throughout the day. Please come prepared.
We are starting the diorama project today. We will not be building until you have ALL your research done first, as I think it will help you build better if you understand more about the ecosystem you are trying to build, rather than building than catching up on the information. Here are the project instructions:
If you missed this class or if you just want to watch this at home, I've included the link to the Bill Nye video on Wetlands. Enjoy :)
Ps. If you have Netflix, The Magic School Bus can be found there! We have started wetlands in Science this week. We have looked at the 5 different wetlands (peatlands and non-peatlands). We have also watched a couple of videos (Bill Nye and the Magic School Bus) to solidify some concepts after having notes. We are collecting boxes for our first science projects (We are creating dioramas). For this project, we will be working on the dioramas in class (do not create the diorama at home and bring them in). More info to come!
